“FINDING WAYS TO BLOW HIS MIND!”

I know first of all some of you are freaking out about the title of this discussion.  But remember if truth be told many of us over forty have forgotten what this looks like and feels like.

We can get so caught up in kids, work, community that our most important relationship gets neglected and put on the back burner.  Well one thing I know for sure is if we don’t openly talk about it, our daughters won’t know what to do about it.

Now understand, I didn’t grow up with a mother who told me any of the theories about how to keep the home fires burning but I watched her and I learned.  She and my father were married until he passed away at seventy. 

If you look around you our counterparts in other cultures find it ok to put it right out there for open discussion (Cosmo, Vogue, even Ladies Home Journal).  But black women shy away from having the discussion.  I’m puzzled and wonder why.  Intimacy is both spiritual and healing of our hearts, minds and bodies. 

So as promised we’re going to give you your swagger back and help you brighten up your days and his nights….and who knows you just may be putting in for that vacation time real soon!

1.  Remember who your man is.  What does he like to do?  Okay so you don’t like football, or basketball.  Rather than complain that he’s watching it, join him or at least get a book sit down and be quiet.  Yes, I said it.  Keep him company.

As black women we try so hard to compete with our men, or control our environments that we forget that you will get more flies with honey than vinegar.  What you should be doing while he’s watching the game is figuring out where YOU want to go to dinner when the game is over.  Cause guess what…you were all in to the game you didn’t get a chance to cook. 

If he’s not in to sports and wants to see a movie (you’re not into blood and gore) let him choose the movie.  Why?  Cause most are attached to malls!  Do you see where I’m going here. 

Most brothers just want you to give them a little breathing room… and many with no prodding will thank you for appreciating who they are. 

The most common complaint heard from men is that they don’t feel appreciated.  You know that’s just behavior modification 101.  Reward for something done good and they keep on doing it.  So, show your man that you appreciate that he’s in your life (let’s face it you could be alone and there really are more sisters out there than brothers), and when you give them the chance to really be the men of the house… it usually translates into a better relationship for everyone in the home.

I know this sounds OLD Fashioned!  But what’s old fashion about love, kindness, respect and a great relationship.

The next part to blowing his mind is really simple.  Get up off the couch take off that sweatsuit, those jeans (unless they are skintight) and put on something sleek and gorgeous, fix your hair and for heavens sake wear some makeup!  Have you ever wondered why a man turns and looks at a nice looking woman who he passes on the street (or just about anywhere for that matter).

Becasue men are visual creatures.  They really like seeing nice things (cars, homes, a great view, and a good looking woman).  So how come you can’t be that woman.  Turn his head!

You know, men don’t need you to spend money on them (except the one’s that tell you that if you loved them you would buy them something.  I’m gonna hope you dumped his butt cause he is a loser plain and simple), they would really like their women to look good.  Why?  So they can tell other brothers.  Men like to talk about their woman.  They want to be able to say, “well you know last night….(you fill in the blank).

I thnk you get our point.  We have many more ways for you to blow his mind so stay tuned for our next discussion.

For example, if you decide to complete a customer profile form, you may be asked to provide certain information such as your contact information (name, email address, mailing address and telephone number), birthday, gender and product and/or cosmetic concerns, and the brands and products you use. If you decide to place an order, we will also need to know your delivery and billing address, credit card number and expiration date.
If you would prefer that we not collect any personally identifiable information from you, please do not provide us with any such information. Use of Personally Identifiable Information
 

We strive to provide you with a full range of personalized skincare and cosmetic products and services designed to meet your unique cosmetic needs. In order to provide you with this level of service, we may use your personal information in the manner described below:

A. Communications to serve you.
If you have elected to provide us with your contact information, e.g., by emailing or telephoning our Customer Service department or placing an order through our Artistic Experts, we may provide you with service related announcements or contact you regarding your customer service requests or your order. For example, all E’LON Couture Cosmetics customers will receive a welcoming note to confirm their first order. We may also contact you to respond to product questions or concerns that you may express. These types of communications are necessary to serve you, respond to your concerns and to provide the high level of customer service that we offer our customers.

 
B. Opt-In Communications
In addition to the essential service related contacts that we may send you as described in Section (A) above, if you opt-in during the Client Profile process or at other times when you submit personally identifiable information, the information you provide may be used to create and deliver to you our newsletters, surveys or other communications containing product and event information, cosmetics tips or promotions (”Opt-In Communications”). For example, we may look at what you have previously ordered in an attempt to tell you about promotions that will be of particular interest to you. We will also assume that you have indicated your consent to opt-in if you have given us your details when placing an order without opting-out by calling our customer service line at 513-671-0635 an opting-out.

No Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information for Third Party Marketing Without Your Consent

We will not provide your personally identifiable information to third parties for their use in marketing their products or services to you without your consent.

Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information:

A. Fraud Protection and Compliance with Law.
We may disclose any information, including personally identifiable information, we deem necessary, in our sole discretion, to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request. We implement various security measures in accordance with industry standards to protect the security of your personal information and your financial transactions with us. Your personal information will be stored at our Sharonville facility located in Ohio (U.S).

Accuracy of and Updating Your Information

We will take reasonable steps to create an accurate record of any personal information you have submitted through E’LON Couture Cosmetics. However, we do not assume responsibility for confirming the ongoing accuracy of your personal information. You are responsible for keeping your information on file with us up to date. Lavon who had never worn makeup before love this natural look.  We used E’LON Satin Finish Foundation in French Roast and used cantaloupe matte eye palette and sable brown creme eye shadow.  We lined her lips with a chocolate pencil and used pebblestone lipcolor!  

Needless to say Ms. Lavon’s family loved her new look!

Yolanda Webb

Yolanda Webb is president and chief executive officer of E’LON, LLC., parent company of E’LON Couture Cosmetics, TWISY (The World Is Yours) Teen Line, and E=MC² (The Scientifically Defined Men’s Skincare line).

In October 2003, Yolanda launched E’LON Couture Cosmetics after more than twenty years as a former national and international model.  She is responsible for developing the company’s creative image, product development, financial and operational strategy to grow retail sales, retail outlets and brand equity across each brand.

Prior to starting E’LON Cosmetics Yolanda led a distinguished career in the private and non-profit sectors as executive and senior administrator.   In 1998, on behalf of the Hamilton County Board, Yolanda testified before both the Ohio and US Senate on behalf of individuals with mental retardation and other disabilities regarding the issue of housing and housing shortages for some of our most vulnerable citizens.

Yolanda has also been an educator in the higher education sector.  She has held adjunct positions at both Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and Brown Mackie College.  While at Brown Mackie College she was also appointed Department Chair for the Legal and Criminal Justice Studies Department.  In this role she held responsibility for curriculum design, leadership of adjunct faculty and student retention.

Yolanda has also shared her leadership and competency on many non-profit boards and committees.  Notably among these are, The Urban League Guild, The Cincinnati Ballet Board, and the United Way Advisory Board.  She has received numerous business awards as well.   Among the notable awards are, Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award in 2004, African-American Chamber Emerging Business of the Year Award in 2006 and the Business of the Year Award from the Greater Cincinnati Micro-Enterprise.  She has also been honored by numerous women’s organizations for her work with women and children.

The Detroit native received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice/Psychology from Tennessee State University in Nashville.  She also earned her Masters of Arts degree in Humanities from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Yolanda has two beautiful children, Warren Louis Stallworth and Sascha E’lon Stallworth and one adorable grandchild Addison Riley Steele.

Yolanda’s vision for E’LON Couture is simple she says, “We are in the business of celebrating the beauty and inner strength of women of color.”

     …”Changing Our World Beautifully One Woman At A Time!”

      There is a new book out called, “Fierce Angels” by Sheri Parks.    The discussion of the book surronds the topic of the Strong Black Woman in American Culture.  While we are trying to secure an interview with Ms. Parks I will refrain from rendering an opinion on the outcome of the books merits.  I would strongly suggest that all black women read the book.  One of the issues we are tackling this month in April’s issue of E’LON Couture Magazine is something that comes in direct contradiction to the Strong Black Woman syndrome.  First of all we know this image of the strong black woman.  We see her nightly portrayed on American television sitcoms and reality television shows.  She is protrayed as sassy, loud, brash, can take anything with her head moving from side to side, her hand on her hip and her finger wagging in your face.  But is she really this lady?  We have referred to her as ‘Big Mama”, Madea, Mother Dear and all sorts of names.  

So why is it our daughters and sister friends who happen to be plus size often don’t see this image of this strong black woman as worthy of their own self-confidence.  What messages are we giving our girls?  Are we saying to them that all Big Mama’s wear head rags like Hattie McDaniel in Gone With The Wind… or have sagging boobs like Tyler Perry’s version of Big Mama in all of the Madea movies and plays?  We have this sad ability to create mixed messages for ourselves while we let other people define the idea and concept of beauty and strength for us.

When do we get to define our own beauty and our own strength?  I for one am neither loud, wear a head rag (at least not in public), place my hands on my hips or wag my finger.  But I am strong.  I am strong because I cry, I laugh, I love and I feel.  I am strong because I look in the mirror and I really love the girl looking back there and I tell her so every single day.  I love my weaknesses as well as my strengths.  I love my nappy hair, and my blackness.  I am strong because my mother was strong (oh yes I saw the woman put the end of a pointed umbrella to the throat of  a racist white bus driver who would not let me on and threaten him with bodily harm if I did not make it back to Tennessee State in one peice).  That’s strength!

In my world , the strong black women I know are not afraid to be caught crying, nor reluctant to wipe the tears of their friends. They know that real strength comes not from denying one’s  humanity but from embracing it.   My mother taught me what strength was and is.  She showed me that beauty comes from the same place strength comes from – deep within.  Within me is a place that not another human being can define.  Its that place that gives me strength, courage, faith to be who and what I was put here to be.  That’s my image of a strong, black woman. 

To all my strong, beautiful plus size sisters – know your own strength and pull from the strength of those Big Mamas gone by - and remember they were always only portrayed in the way that others wanted to define their beauty.

            Meet Two of Our National Makeup Artist

Yolanda Webb- National, International and Emmy Nominated Makeup Artist Yolanda, is the creative force behind E’LON Couture Cosmetics.  The origins of E’LON grew out of the frustration of the limited positive images of women of color in the media. Designing looks for stage, television and print it is always her intent to stay true to the ‘real’ YOU.  From Everyday beauty to fashion forward glamour let Yolanda and the E’LON team create the looks you want.      

  Denise Gaines – “Neicey” has been creating the real You for more than five years.  Her talents extend into working with those in visible positions in the community to help design looks that fit their wardrobe and lifestyle.  Neicey also volunteers her time to make young women with disabilites beautiful through her work with the Women’s Health Initiative and its focus on positive self-awareness, good health and positive self-esteem.       “E’LON Couture Cosmetics invites you to step into the world of E’LON’s Couture Makeup Artistry.  Creating Real Beauty for Real Women.”

These are a few essentials that take us through our regular day. All the ladies said if there are speical occassions they may add other items to their personal makeup bags. The trick is to always carry mainly the essentials for quuick touch ups during the day… And that’s a Beauty Best Bet!

 1.     Do You Test On Animals?                      

A.   No, we do not and will never test or research products for you on animals. 

 2.     What Are ‘Use By’ Dates on your products?                           

A.  Because all manufactured products tend to have a ’shelf” life we recommend you use the products you purchase from us by the date stamped on the package.                 

3.    Can I get ingredients listings from your company?                          

A.  Yes, E’LON Couture Cosmetics provides ingredients listings upon request for each product we manufacture.                 

4.    Do women of color need sunscreen?                      

A.  Yes and we recommend and include sunscreen in many of our products.  We believe a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher works for African-American skin tones.               

5.    Can I become a sales representative?                     

A.  We do not currently have independent sales representatives.         

6.    Can I cancel my order?                      

A.    Yes, see our Shipping policy under our Customer Service area on our site.              

7.     Does E’LON Couture Cosmetics have a Professional Makeup Artist Discount Program?                        

A.     Yes, we need to see an online portfolio and have you sign up. The discount for makeup and tools is twenty-five percent.              

8.    Are your products non-comdogenic?                     

A. Yes. Our products are made with Jojoba and are non-comdogenic.                

9.   Am I able to get one of your makeup artists for an event I’m trying to do?                      

A.  Yes, simply call our toll free number at 1-888-836-7485              

10.   Do your foundations have an SPF for lighter complexions?                      

A.   Yes an SPF of 15 or higher.

SHIPPING TERMS

E’LON Couture Cosmetics processes most orders within 24 hours of receipt during business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, subject to global region. Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday will be processed the following Monday. Orders with Priority Shipping will be processed the same day if received by 12:00pm EST, except on holidays. Overnight Service and 2nd Day shipping orders, placed by 12:00pm EST will be processed and shipped the same day, depending on product availability.  

Orders being sent to PO Boxes or Military APO/FPO addresses must be shipped via the United States Postal Service and cannot be shipped via 2nd Day or Overnight Priority Service. Restrictions may apply. • E’LON accepts orders being sent to Alaska, Hawaii, and the US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands), however restrictions may apply. •Priority shipping methods (Overnight or 2nd Day service) are not available for certain locations in Alaska, Hawaii and the US Territories.

• Standard Service: Most orders with Standard Service are delivered within 5-7 business days from the order’s ship date. Most orders destined for PO Boxes are delivered within 6-14 business days from the order’s ship date.  
• 2nd Day Service: Most orders shipped via 2nd Day Service are delivered within 2-3 business days from the order’s ship date
• Overnight Service: Orders shipped via Overnight Service are delivered within 1 business day from the order’s ship date.

All purchases are subject to bank or credit card authorization and approval prior to processing.

For your security, your billing name and address must match that of the credit card used for payment. We reserve the right to cancel any order that does meet these criteria.

Customs and import duties are the responsibility of the customer. These charges vary and are charged when your package reaches its destination country. We recommend that customers contact their local customs office for details on how these charges are assessed and applied.

Packages that are returned due to unpaid duties and customs will be charged an additional shipping fee.

PRODUCT PRICING AND TAXES

Prices displayed on this web-site are quoted in USD currency. Prices are subject to change at any time. Sales tax will be determined by the ship-to address of the order and will be added to the order automatically.

E’LON is required by law to apply sales tax to orders (including shipping and handling).

Orders are taxable (excluding shipping and handling) for the following states: California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

For your convenience, E’LON Couture Cosmetics accepts international orders based on global region. Please refer to select your region. All orders placed from “Other Regions” will be fulfilled through the United States unless special circumstances apply.

We currently provide shipping to Ghana, South Africa, London, Paris, Japan, and Australia

RETURN POLICY
We hope you enjoy your E’LON Couture Cosmetics online purchases. Should you be dissatisfied with an E’LON Couture Cosmetics product ordered online, please return it to E’LON Couture Cosmetics within 30 days with your original receipt in order for us to refund your purchase or send a replacement product.

 *Please note that only items purchased on our web-site may be accepted for a return or exchange. Items purchased from a store or other online retailer will not be accepted. All refunds are credited to the original pay method. Please send your package via an insured and prepaid method such as FED EX or USPS to insure safe and prompt delivery when you are returning or exchanging a purchase. Please include your packing slip or invoice number and denote the reason for the return. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable on returns.

E’LON Couture Cosmetic is not responsible for returned articles lost in transit. Instructions for returns and/or exchanges will be included with the invoice enclosed with your order.

When items are purchased as a set, E’LON Couture Cosmetics is only able to accept returns of complete sets, not individual items. Your returns will be processed promptly upon their arrival. Processing time for returns is usually 14 business days from the time the return is received. If you are returning a gift, please denote this on the return form.

Gift returns can only be exchanged; refunds are not available unless a receipt is presented.

If your package was damaged in shipment by the carrier, save the box and merchandise and notify us immediately by calling 1-888-836-7485. If possible, the carrier will inspect and pick up the damaged package and the damaged product will be replaced.

ORDER STATUS & QUESTIONS

To verify the shipping status of your order, please view your cart profile or contact us. If you have an account with E’LON Couture Cosmetic social network online, you have the ability to check the status of your most recent order by logging into your profile and visiting the Order Status. If you do not have an account set up with E’LON Couture Cosmetics, please email our Customer Service department or call 1-888-836-7485 with any questions you may have about your order. Once your order is shipped, your confirmation tracking number will be displayed if a tracking number has been attributed to your order by the carrier. To track your order via a carrier’s web-site, you may click on the tracking number to view the estimated delivery status of your order.

ORDER CANCELLATIONS

Occasionally, orders or parts of an order are cancelled by our system for various reasons, which may include:

• Items are not available

• Difficulty in processing payment information

• Cannot ship to the address which was provided

• Duplicate order was placed

• Customer request for cancellation.

If your order is cancelled, you will receive an email notice alerting you to the cancellation.

You will not be billed for any cancelled items. If you are interested in placing a new order or if you have questions about a cancelled order, please contact E’LON’s Customer Service Department at 1-888-836-7485 or via email.

ITEM AVAILABILITY

If an item selected is temporarily out of stock or unavailable at the time of your order, you will be notified via email. Backordered items are shipped as soon as they become available. If there are other items in your order that are in stock they will be shipped to you. You are only charged for items, which have been shipped. If you wish to cancel a backordered item, please contact us at 1-888-836-7485 and we will gladly assist you.
